Samson is voted most likely to succeed and yet winds up destroying himself. He trusts in his gifts and abilities and becomes proud rather than humbling himself and trusting in the One who gave him those gifts and abilities. Samson’s downfall doesn’t come from his many enemies and challenges but from the arrogance and corruption of his own heart. Consequently, Samson is his own worst enemy.
This year on the Forge retreat our 9th-12th grade students will ask themselves: How am I like Samson? Where is pride corrupting my heart and creating destruction in my life? And what does it look like for me to humble myself and surrender to my Creator’s purposes for my life. Our Forge fall retreat will be Friday, November 17-Sunday, November 19, at Ridgecrest Conference Center. Click the link below for more information and to register.
